Annual Meeting:  September 14, 2008                        Shellbrook High School

 

Bruce called the meeting to order at 10:00.  Introductions were made.  Brent Zbaraschuk –the SHA rep. did not attend.  All centers were represented.  Bruce welcomed all who were there to represent their communities and thanked them for volunteering their time.  An explanation of the voting procedure was given.

 

Kindersley moved that  Kindersley/Rosetown Pee Wees combine to form one team for the 2008-2009 season and be known as West Central.  Warman seconded the motion.  Carried

 

Confirmation of teams for the 2008-2009 season were confirmed in each division.  To date the 8 confirmed teams in Pee Wee are Battleford, Beardy’s, Humboldt, West Central, Melfort, Prince Albert, Tisdale and Warman and a possibility is Meadow Lake..

 

Kindersley moved that Kindersley/Rosetown Bantams combine to form one team for the 2008-2009 season and be known as West Central.  Seconded by Tisdale.  Carried.

 

In the Bantam Division, to date the 11 confirmed teams in Bantam are Battleford, Beardy’s, Humboldt,  Meadow Lake,  Melfort,  Naicam, P.A. Pirates,  Tisdale, Unity, Warman and West Central.

 

Kindersley moved that Kindersley/Rosetown Midgets combine to form one team for the 2008-2009 season and be known as West Central.  Humboldt seconded the motion.  Carried.

 

In the Midget Division, Tisdale and Unity were unsure.  To date the 11 confirmed teams in Midgets are Battleford, Beardy’s, Humboldt,  Lloydminster, Meadow Lake, Midwest, North East, Parkland, Prince Albert , Watson and West Central..

 

Bruce stated that if the Rosetown and Kindersley teams left their performance bonds with the league for the 2008-2009 season, they would be guaranteed their membership for the 2009/10 season if the merger was unsuccessful.  This policy would be consistent with previous mergers in the league.

 

Shirley moved the minutes from April 6/08 meeting be adopted.  West Central seconded.  Cd .   Beardys Bantams were informed that they have to pay their bond within the week as it was due today.  (received it this evening).  Lloydminster and Unity paid their bond fees.

 

Shirley moved the financial statement.  Seconded by Warman.  Carried.

 

Shirley moved the proposed budget and that we leave the league fees as $300.00 per team for the 2008-2009 season. Humboldt seconded the motion.    Cd.

 

Since the SHA rep was absent  Bruce gave dates for the Sask. First Zone camps but we don’t know which location they are being held in the zones.

 

Unity moved and Warman seconded that league start up dates be Oct. 10 – Feb. 8 for Pee Wee; Oct. 10 – Jan. 25 for Bantam; Oct. 10 – Feb. 1 for Midget.  Cd.

The play off format will remain the same as last year unless someone emails their ideas to Bruce by the end of December.  We apply as a league and pay the fee for the SHA Provincials for each Division.  If you think you have a top team and are going to finish near the top get the sheet filled in. Only the 2 final teams in the provincial series have to send their roster into SHA.

 

Bruce explained the calendar for the scheduling meeting ON SEPTEMBER 28/08 AT 10:00 A.M. AT THE SHELLBROOK HIGH SCHOOL and everyone must have their exact times, dates and location sheets faxed ( 747-4378)or emailed (clemville@sasktel.net) to Bruce by Thursday, Sept. 25/08  no  later than 8 p.m.  or you will be fined $200.00.  Centres who have 1 or 2 teams in the league must have a minimum of 20 weekend ice times with Fridays no later than 8:30; Sat. 10:30 – 8:30 and Sunday 10:30 – 3:00.  Centres with 3 teams need a minimum of 17 ice times that fit in with this schedule.  Teams not meeting the minimum ice times will be fined $500.00.   Bantam and Midget  times can be extended to 4 o’cock  on Sunday .   Please try and have someone who is familiar with the system to help your new people. 

Midgets please find out when your semester final exams are on in January and any other sporting event finals.  Before you leave the meeting your scheduling sheet must be handed into Shirley and you can also pay your league fees at this meeting.

 

All league trophies are to be returned to the league office by Jan. 15, 2008. 

 

Constitutional amendment under Article 6 – Rules of Play  d).  Delete 2 goal judges.. 

After discussion it was moved by Melfort , seconded by Meadow Lake that we delete 2 goal judges from Article 6.  Carried.  More discussion and Prince Albert moved that we require goal judges in play-offs.  Unity seconded.  Carried.

 

Discussion was held on a possible minimum age for referees and linesmen in the league.  It was recommended for the Pee Wee Division that officials should be no younger than Bantam age.   Bruce mentioned how the cost of officials has increased in the SHA Handbook for this year.

 

Please remember if you want to change your sponsoring center you must have the president’s approval.  Two centres have made changes to date.  Brock will be the sponsoring center for Kindersley/Rosetown in all divisions and Hague will be the sponsoring center for the Warman Bantams.

 

The minutes, constitution, playing rules, etc. will be on the internet.  E-mail contacts are important.
