Annual Meeting:  September 09, 2007                        Shellbrook High School

 

Bruce called the meeting to order at 10:00.  Bruce introduced the executive and Donna Malach –the SHA rep.  All centers were represented.  An explanation of the voting procedure was given.

 

Confirmation of teams for the 2007-2008 season were confirmed in each division.  To date the 9 confirmed teams in Pee Wee are Battleford, Humboldt, Kindersley, Meadow Lake, Melfort, P.A. Ice, Rosetown, Tisdale and Warman.

 

In the Bantam Division, Parkland indicated they will not be in the league.  To date the 10 confirmed teams in Bantam are Battleford, Humboldt, Kindersley,  Meadow Lake,  Melfort, Naicam, P.A. Pirates, Rosetown, Tisdale, Warman.

 

In the Midget Division, Tisdale was unsure.  To date the 12 confirmed teams in Midgets are Battleford, Beardy’s, Humboldt, Kindersley, Meadow Lake, Midwest, North East, Parkland, Prince Albert, Rosetown, Unity and Watson.

 

Beardys made a presentation to become a team in the Pee Wee division. Tisdale moved, seconded by Melfort that Beardys Pee Wees be accepted into the Centre Four Hockey League for the 2007-2008 season.  Discussion was held and the motion was passed.  Beardys Pee Wees will be in the league for a 2 year probation period.

 

Shirley moved the minutes from April 1/07 meeting be adopted.  Tisdale seconded.  Cd .   Rosetown moved we form a committee to discuss amalgamation with the Saskatoon league for the 2008-09 season.  Warman seconded the motion.  Carried.  Discussion took place and Bruce and a rep from Kindersley, Tisdale and PA will represent the league and report back.

 

Bruce gave his President’s Report and congratulated the Tisdale Pee Wees, Tisdale Bantams and Humboldt Midgets on winning league championships.  This was one of the best years as far as the number of major incidents he had to deal with. Thanks to Stan and to the team managers for their support during the season.  The League is running smoothly and is very competitive based on the teams we have.  He presented info on the Hockey Summit meeting he attended.

 

 

Shirley moved the financial statement and the proposed budget.  Seconded by Melfort  Cd.   Midwest moved, seconded by North East that honorariums for Dale and Bruce increase by $500.00 and Shirley $250.00  Cd.

 

Battleford moved and Warman seconded that the fees remain at $300.00 per team.  Cd.

 

 

 

Donna reported  on behalf of the SHA and highlighted some of the changes – removal of goal judges, mouth guards recommended but not mandatory, coaching requirements are on pages 135-136 of the handbook.  Please look at these carefully as all team members listed on certification form must attend a speak out session and 1 person needs the SHA body checking course by Feb. 1st.  Page 132 has info about double A registration..  Affiliation lists must be in by Dec. 15th.  The  Zone Camps are Zone 5 – Watrous – Oct. 4 and Feb. 13; Zone 7 – Unity – Oct. 1st and Wilkie – Feb. 12th; Zone 8 –Melfort – Oct. 2 and Birch Hills – Feb. 11th.  Dates and finals for the Bantam and Midget Camps.  Bantams are Feb. 15 –17 and the tourney dates March 14 –16.  Midgets are Feb. 29 – Mar. 2 and tourney  dates March 28 – Mar. 30.  Hockey Day in Saskatchewan is Jan. 19th.

 

 

Tisdale moved and P.A. seconded that league start up dates be Oct. 12 – Feb. 3 for Pee Wee; Oct. 12 – Jan. 20 for Bantam; Oct. 13 – Jan. 27 for Midget.

The play off format will remain the same as last year unless someone emails their ideas by the end of December.  We apply as a league and pay the fee for the SHA Provincials for each Division.  If you think you have a top team and are going to finish near the top get the sheet filled in. Only the 2 final teams in the provincial series have to send their roster into SHA.

 

Bruce explained the calendar for the scheduling meeting ON SEPTEMBER 23/07 AT 10:00 A.M. AT THE SHELLBROOK HIGH SCHOOL and everyone must have their exact times, dates and location sheets faxed ( 747-4378)or emailed (clemville@sasktel.net) to Bruce by Thursday, Sept. 20/06 no  later than 8 p.m.  or you will be fined $200.00.  Centres who have 1 or 2 teams in the league must have  a minimum of 20 weekend ice times with Fridays no later than 8:30; Sat. 10:30 – 8:30 and Sunday 10:30 – 3:00.  Centres with 3 teams need a minimum of 17 ice times that fit in with this schedule.  Teams not meeting the minimum ice times will be fined $500.00.  Tisdale moved seconded by PA that for Bantam and Midget the times can be extended to 4 o’cock  on Sunday to enable PA to get more ice slots.  Please try and have someone who is familiar with the system to help your new people. 

Midgets please find out when your semester final exams are on in January and any other sporting event finals.  Before you leave the meeting your scheduling sheet must be handed into Shirley and you can also pay your league fees at this meeting.

 

All league trophies are to be returned to the league office by Jan. 15, 2008. 

 

Constitutional amendment under Article 2 – Executive –Change league executive rotation order with Parkland moving to 4) instead of 10).  Delete La Ronge from order. 

Article 6 – Rules of Play – Delete from C)two goal judges. After discussion it was decided we would leave the goal judges in.

 

Article 1 – Membership and Fees E) New applications for league membership must be made to the league President in writing by April 1.

 

Warman moved seconded by Naicam that the above constitutional amendments be changed. Cd.

 

Warman moved that we enforce mouth guards for the 2007-2008 season. Seconded by Naicam.  Discussion followed and the motion was defeated.

 

Please remember if you want to change your sponsoring center you must have the president’s approval.  The minutes, constitution, playing rules, etc. will be on the internet.  E-mail contacts are important and if you can not receive from Bruce please inform Shirley and she will get you the info.

 

Tisdale nominated Bruce for president, seconded by Midwest.  North East moved nomination ceased.  Cd.

Bruce appointed Shirley as secretary-treasurer and Robin Harper from Melfort will be the new vice president.
